So you find yourself considering CBD oil as part of your wellness solution and you are not quite sure how much to take? This is fairly common and many are looking to learn more about the benefit derived from Cannabis products and more specifically how to land on the right dosage for their individual needs.
Before we share some ideas we want to strongly recommend that you work with a health care provider to determine the hemp or cannabis consumption that is best suited to meet your desired outcome.
Cannabis dosing is very dependent on each individuals response and can be impacted by many things including strain, cannibinoid profile, method of consumption and the state of the body at time of ingestion.
However, CBD dosing is often based on body weight.
Patients with more body weight maybe administered a higher dose of CBD.
There are four primary methods for taking CBD to choose from:
CBD oil is often administered sublingually (under your tongue) where it is absorbed directly into your bloodstream. This is often preferred because the absorption process bypasses the digestive system and liver which allows the compounds to reach your bloodstream quickly to interact with the body and more specifically the enndocannabinoid system right away.
Typically 1–6 MG of CBD for every 10 pounds of body weight is administered but there are online CBD calculators that you could also explore.
After determining your initial dose in accordance with your body weight, notice how your body is reacting to the amount of CBD you are using.
Gradually increase the dose while continuing to monitor any changes. This will help you find the perfect dosage that works best for you.
Many people believe that CBD oil takes effect regardless of the method of administering and that a daily dose is the most effective way to experience positive results over time. You can choose to stick to one delivery method like CBD oil or use a combination of products for a more diverse regimen. Either way, this will not alter how CBD affects your body unless you change the overall dosage. But how do you determine what CBD dosage is right for you in the first place?
A large number of factors affect the size of the dosage that will work for you and the quality and potency of the CBD oil will certainly affect what you feel, but other factors to consider include:
- Your weight
- Your metabolism
- Your diet
- The condition being treated
- The severity of your illness
- Your bodies tolerance to CBD
There are also many CBD topicals (lotions and creams) in the marketplace but they are typically reserved for specific and localized pain relief or to address a specific skin conditions like eczema. Topicals DO NOT make you high.
Finally, when planning a treatment program for all and any ailments or illnesses we recommend consulting a Medical Professional before beginning treatment. This becomes very important if you are taking other medications that may have an interaction with CBD, Cannabis or Hemp based products. Seniors are sensitive to falls and trips and should not take any products with THC without talking to their doctor.
