Air Canada Bans Cannabis Use


It will be interesting to watch organizations wrap their arms around work place policy.  Air Canada has decided that some employees will not be allowed to use recreational marijuana on or off duty.

12.3 per cent of Canadians 15 and older are already admitting to marijuana use, according to a recent Statistics Canada report.   This number will certainly increase after legalization.

Proactive employers are reviewing policies and we expect many more announcements in the coming weeks on Cannabis at Work positioning.

    Assuming there will be some issues with restricting what one does during personal time, perhaps they may be able to write this into the employment contract of new employees however existing employees may not conform to these demands.
